![]() The only other thing that I found somewhat difficult, was unclipping the treestand strap itself after the hunt. I will most likely buy some different backpack straps to use in place of the ones that come with the stand. I had the sticks, a backpack, and camera gear all attached to the stand, giving it some solid weight, and the straps weren't the kindest on my shoulders. Now on to the negatives. I don't have much here, but one thing that I didn't like were the backpack straps. What I like about this stand is it's price, as it retails at $129. It was a quick setup, and was very sturdy while in use. Last, but not least, it gripped the tree very well. It is by far the most comfortable seat cushion I have ever sat on while being in a tree. It is small and compact enough to pack in easily, and is big enough to be comfortable when sitting in. It is rated at 10lbs, with a 21" by 27" platform. Simply put, I felt exponentially safer in the tree. Next, it is light. This is the first actual nice stand I have owned, and it is easy to tell how much better put together it is than a cheap $30 stand from Menards. First of all, it is very well put together. A dusting of drab knocks it down a bit.Hawk Helium Hang on Stand: Let's start out with the stand itself, and the positives that go with it. Step 5: Touchup As Neededīefore finishing I like to lightly hi the highlights with the drab green to tone down the khaki (it’s pretty bright). Continue this until you are happy with the pattern. Step 4: Shift the Cargo Netting While Changing ColorsĬontinue to shift the netting around to get different patterns always spraying dark on the highlight color and the highlight on the dark color. You’ll notice the dark base coat will take the form of the netting giving a camo pattern. ![]() With your highlight color (khaki in my case), spray the sticks through the netting in an irregular pattern. Drape the netting over the sticks ensuring it stretches tightly across the surface. ![]() The cargo netting works to block paint from getting on the sticks. Step 3: Drape the Cargo Netting Over the Sticks and Add Highlights ![]() I painted some diagonal black stripes across my gray base coat. Stick with irregular diagonals to help hide the 90 degree angles that make up the sticks. Step 2: Spray Contrasting Diagonal Stripesĭepending on your base coat color, paint some diagonal stripes across the sticks. This dark base coat will be the foundation for the netting pattern that helps to break up the sticks outline. If your sticks are a lighter color, start by giving them a darker base coat of drab green, black or gray. The Hawk Helium Sticks already have a nice darker gray color which saves you a step of putting a dark base coat. The method produces a similar result to Kryptek-style camo. This is the approach I took for breaking up my sticks.
